I have to retract my former statement saying that I don't fit ReSounds
without the LGOB . Prior to today, I would have argued that it is possible to
obtain a fairly reliable LGOB on most any normally functioning adult. I WAS
WRONG! A gentleman just left my office who was incapable of doing this test.
He understood the instructions after the 10th time at trying to get through
the 1000Hz trial, but could not comprehend the difference between too loud and
too soft. Being naturally patient, I asked him to just tell me "how they
sounded" and I would push the button. They all sounded "fine". After an
hour, I gave up, but I am fitting him with ReSound Encores (figured the remote
would blow his mind).
So, while I believe that the LGOB is invaluable, I will modify my
previous statement to say that it should be performed whenever possible. Have
