I just received a booklet re: 1998 Oticon Focus on People Awards. The awards
will be made in 3 categories for hard of hearing people (Senior--over 65;
Adult--18-65; youth--under 18). "Award recipients will be selected on the basis
of personal and professional accomplishments that clearly demonstrate the
individual spirit, perseverance, and drive to overcome perceived or actual
limitations caused by their hearing loss." Winners receive a $2500 award and
$2500 donated to the non-profit cause, organization, group, or educational
institution designated by each recipient "to further their goals in making a
difference." You can get copies of the nomination booklet by calling or writing
Oticon or by going to their website (www.oticonus.com).
There also will be a separate category for nominating hearing care
professionals. You can see the info about that in the booklet also. The awards
are the same.
Nominations are due no later than 2/16/98.
