I have tinnitus and recruitment and had a question about the net effect
of cumulative protection.
My daughter wants me to take her on a jet ski on vacation. I know that
withought hearing protection I will feel afterwards like I've been
slugged in both my ears. Anyone with hyperacusis or recruitment should
know what I mean.
If I wear ER-25 plugs and then use the muff type headset with a rating
of 29-NRR, I don't think they are cumulative with 100 dB being reduced
to 100-54=46.
Could someone tell me what the dB reduction, theoretically I guess,
would be with 29 dB reduction worn over 25 dB reduction? Also, if there
is a way to calculate it I'd like to know how and why it is done that
way.
Thanks.
