I am curious to know what the cyber community thinks of AAA's (Am. Acad.
of Audiology) bid to produce a certification for audiologists...it does
require an AuD by 2007(?) or something like that.
I have been holding off on the AuD. I've been sitting back to wait and
see what happens. I don't have that much experience in the field (less
than 5 years post MA) and I work in a large ENT group that employs
several audiologists. I do not think they'll pay more if I go back and
get an AuD. I'm not sure that I want to run a private practice, or
that where I live will support more private practices (there are
several in town already).
I'm just curious to see what people who follow this group think about
AAA's proposal, and the fact that ASHA is pursuing this with
litigation...I would love to dump ASHA certification for a less costly
one that recognizes the effort I've put towards continuing education,
but I doubt I'll be going back for an AuD. If I go back to school it
won't be for an AuD. I like audiology, but there is ZERO incentive for
me to do this other than my own personal gratification, which isn't
enough for me at this point in my life.
Just fishin' for thoughts from the people who read this group....
Thanks!
