My name is Daniel Chapman and I am studying audiology. Only one hearing aid
I know of can make claims of improving speech understanding in background
noise and that hearing aid is offered by Phonak Hearing Instruments, Inc.
and is called the Audiozoom.Beltone has also got FDA clearence to make one
of those claims on one of there hearing instruments. Although I don't know
the name. If you would like additional info. on any of these products
please e-mail me at danielbchapman at prodigy.net with a mailing address and I
will send you some brocures. These hearing instruments accomplish better
speech understanding in background noise with multi-microphones, and
multi-memories. No hearing instrument totally masks background noise. My
other opinion would be to go with 100% digitals. They give you digital
sound quality which intern helps speech understanding.
