As you may have heard, the profession of audiology has lost one of its
most outstanding and compassionate members. Our beloved and respected
friend and colleague Ferman Wardell passed away suddenly on Saturday, July
24th in Belton, Texas at the age of 47. Those of us who were blessed by
having known Ferman will dearly miss his kind and gentle support and
friendship. The staff and veterans to whom he dedicated himself at the
Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System will miss this incredibly
talented and caring professional. Even if you did not know him personally,
the chances are good that you do know someone who was impacted or
influenced by this unique individual. In short, Ferman epitomized the
kind of audiologist, not to mention the kind of person, that we all aspire
to be.

In his memory, we are asking for contributions for a scholarship fund for
his sons Jacob, Sam, and Luke, ages 15, 11, and 9, respectively. Checks
can be made out to "Wardell Scholarship Fund" and sent directly to John
Agan, President, Compass Bank, P.O. Box 510, Belton, Texas 76513 (phone
254-939-3501) or to Bart Noble 2512 Field Lark Dr., Round Rock, Texas
78681 (phone 512-244-6070). Those of us who knew and loved this amazing
man would greatly appreciate anything you can do to support his remarkable
sons, who have suffered such a tremendous loss. In addition, please help
us by forwarding this message to anyone who might wish to join us in
supporting the Wardell family. Thank you.
