We wondered if anyone knew of any research on the risks of noise canceling
headphones.

A doctor has asked, in respect of a patient of his who is a pilot in the New
Zealand Air Force, and regularly flies for four hour, with 30 - 500 hours of
flying time per annum. He flies a variety of aircraft including: Boeing 727,
Boeing 757, C-130H Hercules, P3-K Orions, Bell UH-1H Iroquois, Bell 47G
Sioux, Aerospace CT-4E Airtrainer, and Beech King Air B200.

What are the risks to his hearing if he chooses to use Noise Canceling
Headphones?

Please let me know if you need any further information or clarification.

Best regards
