The Cook College of Rutgers- The State University of New Jersey is
 offering short courses in REMOTE SENSING and GIS.

Introduction to GRASS 4.0 GIS
June 7-11,1993

Course Description
	The 5-day "hands-on" course is designed to provide training in the
use of GRASS GIS. It will introduce the principles and applications of GIS 
as well as provide a specific Introduction to GRASS. It is intended both for
the new and potential GRASS user. The course includes lectures,tutorials,
and extensive "hands-on" work using GRASS 4.0.

Some topics to be presented include :
* Introduction to GIS and overview of GRASS 4.0
* Introduction to the UNIX operating system
* GRASS modules
* GRASS-GRID basics and analysis
* MAPDEV overview, demonstration and  principles of data base development
* IMAGERY overview, demonstration and principle sof remote sensing analysis.
* Integration of imagery and other data sources.
* Using the IMAGERY modules to process data



Advanced Applications in GRASS GIS
June 7-11, 1993

Course Description
		This five-day course will explore, through intensive 
"hands-on" work, advanced problem solving techniques using the GRASS-GIS
package. Special emphasis will be placed on the use of GRASS tools, used 
in conjunction with each other, in complex GIS applications. This course is
recommended for current GIS users who have taken an introductory GRASS course
or who have experience in GRASS and UNIX.

Some topics to be presented include :
* Application in r.GMAPCALC,CLUMP and other GRASS tools r.mapcalc,r.infer
* Writing UNIX shell scripts for GRASS modelling
* Interfacing GRASS with the RIM Database program
* Integration of imagery and other data sources
* Using the IMAGERY modules to process data
* Using the Watershed Module
