Synaptic is pleased to announce a new version
of the signal peptide prediction server,
now for all EUKARYOTIC signal peptides at
http://www.stepc.gr/~synaptic/sigfind.html
The new version (2.1) for eukaryotes is trained with
fivefold crossvalidation on 1011 eukaryotic signal peptides
and 820 non-secretory eukaryotic proteins. Predictions on the
test sets have an average Mathews correlation coefficient of 0.98.
The previous version of SIGFIND (2.07), trained with HUMAN
proteins only, has been used by many users also for other eukaryotes.
When tested on the eukaryotic data, the Mathews correlation
for the predictions of SIGFIND 2.07 is 0.95.
Due to the larger training and test sets and the better
performance, we recommend the new version for
all eukaryotic sequences.
- Run Sigfind on your own PC:
You can get Sigfind 2.1 to run on your own PC.
The Sigfind Web-CGI and the offline version
are available for x86-PCs running Linux or MS-Windows.
