I dont know if anyone in this newsgroup will be ablt to help me out here, but I
have a question dealing with Chromosomes......

My friend just had a baby about 3 weeks ago and the pediatrician that saw the
baby in the hospital wanted to test the baby for Downs Syndrome. The test
results came back yesterday and it has been determined that the baby does not
have downs syndrome but the doctor has referred my friend to go to genetic
counseling because the test that they ran came back abnormal. He said that
there is something wrong with the baby's chromosome # 9. What does this mean?
I don't have any idea how this chromosome thing works....does this mean that
the baby has some kind of a disorder? If so , then what could possibly be
wrong with her? The doctor didnt go into detail as to what could be wrong, he
just said that there was something wrong with the chromosome.

Any help here would be great

Thank you....
Kim Hendricks
