non-mucoid cells

Dear Peter;

Your idea of non-mucoid cells acting to disseminate organisms from biofilms via
gas bubbles, etc. sounds quite intriguing. I would suggest that you might wish
to design an experiment which would let you see if any cells that adhere to gas
bubbles are your non-mucoid cells. You would also need to see if these cells
can revert back to their mucoid form when they encounter a surface to colonize.

Good luck,
