I am interested in the subject of biofilms as it pertains to the microbial
production of surfactant-like molecules. I was wondering if anyone had any
experience with extracting unknown surfactants from a pure culture. I have
found numerous references to studies where people have extracted
surfactants, however, "they" knew what they were looking for, whereas I
don't. Which is where my second question comes in. If I can do a quick
screening assay for what "kind" of surfactant it is, I can probably find an
extraction assay which will suit my purposes...however, I would still be
most appreciative of any suggestions regarding an extraction procedure, as
well. Comments/answers?
Thanks!!!
