A Ph.D. candidate position (BAT IIa/2) is available at the Institute of
Water Quality Control and Waste Management, Technical University of
Munich, starting November 1, 1997, for
a period of 3 years within the collaborative agreement of the EU project
"Evaluation of bacterial strategies to promote bioavailability of
hydrophobic pollutants for efficient bioremediation of contaminated
soils". Applicants should have a diploma or equivalent qualification in
microbiology and be willing to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
Experience in the areas of confocal laser scanning microscopy or digital
image analysis is desirable. Candidates without background in
microbiology but with excellent programming skills will be considered. The
chosen candidate will be part of an international and interdisciplinary
team specializing in biofilm research. A working knowledge of German
would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
