Efficacy Testing Methods for Industrial Antimicrobials :
Current Technologies and Future Opportunities
CALL FOR PAPERS : STUDENT SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE
The Biodeterioration Society is currently planning a one and a half day
conference covering the topic of biocide efficacy testing . The objective
of the meeting is to provide a forum for interested industrial, academic
and government groups to enter into an open discussion of :
(1) the role of efficacy testing in future EU legislation (Biocidal
Products Directive)
(2) the issues and limits of current biocide testing methods=20
(3) the possibilities for a new generation of tests based on established
(newish!) and emerging technologies for the estimation of microbial
activity and viability.
The conference will take place in Chester, UK on Monday/Tuesday the 7th and
8th of September. Intentionally, the conference is timed to conveniently
extend into the IBRG meeting that will take place at the same location on
the 9th/10th/11th September.=20
The conference will be derived from a range of invited and offered papers.
The outline structure for the conference is summarized below. Over the
coming weeks the invited speakers will be finalized and the final program
developed.
A frequent comment from Society members is that the participation of
students and academics presenting original, innovative research should be
encouraged and included in future Society conferences. It is to this end
that we have decided to experiment with the idea of "sponsorship". You
will see from the conference outline structure that the afternoon of the
2nd day will be composed exclusively of offered papers. The intention is
that these papers are offered and presented by students/ academics who will
have their travel and lodging paid for by a sponsor!
The Society is offering sponsorship of up to =A3250 per student.=20
At this time at least 10 sponsorships are available !
So if you are interested and have original work you would like to present
that is relevant to the underlying theme of the Conference please contact
