POSTGRADUATE RESEARCHER

The Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management and the
Institute for Computational Earth System Science at the University of
California, Santa Barbara have an opening for a postgraduate researcher in
process and molecular microbial ecology. The research includes generating
alkane-reporting bacterial strains, developing biofilm reactors, and studies
in regulation and biofilm expression in unsaturated conditions.  Preparation
of data reports and refereed papers will also be important aspects of the
position.   Employment is available for one year with the possibility of
extension based upon research performance and availability of funding.  This
is a full-time academic position with an annual salary starting at $38,005.
Experience in molecular biology and microbial physiology required.
Experience with reporter strains, confocal microscopy, liquid and biofilm
culturing, and hydrocarbon biodegradation desired.  Excellent communication
skills and ability to work as a member of a highly interactive research team
are essential.
