Colleagues,
We've been working with an organism that is closely related to the
methyotrophs (like Methylobacterium) and degrades dichloromethane
(DCM). We think it does it using a glutathione-S-transferase-like
enzyme named dichloromethane dehalogenase.
Where in the cell would this type of organism be located -- cell
membrane (inside or outside), perplasm, or cytoplasm? We suspect it is
cytoplasmic, but none of the literature definitively states this. Also,
would we expect to see the product, formaldehyde, in the medium?
Any and all suggestions/comments greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
for your help.
