1. MOLECULAR SYSTEMATICS AND GENETICS

The Biology Department at Southwest Texas State University invites
applications for tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level
effective 1 September 1999.

A molecular systematist who uses DNA / RNA technology to investigate
phylogeny and evolution, and who will develop an upper division course in
systematics. Applicants who can teach an upper division course in entomology
will be given preference. Use Molecular Systematist as the name for this
position when applying as described below.

A geneticist with research interest in molecular genetics who will teach
both a majors course in general genetics (to include a balance of molecular,
Mendelian, and population genetics) at the sophomore level and a senior /
graduate course in molecular biology and genetics. Use Geneticist as the
name for this position when applying as described below.

Successful candidates will be expected to develop vigorous, externally
funded research programs, and train undergraduate and MS level students. A
Ph. D. is required and postdoctoral experience is desired.

teaching philosophies; and a packet containing current curriculum vita, up
to five reprints, unofficial transcripts and a list of three references
