Hello!
Sorry for this multiposting message but I am looking for information
about the changes of the cultivation broth during the loop in a
deep-shaft reactor.
What happens to the metabolism of microbes during such a change of
oxygen, which could be 5 to 10 times higher than the normal oxygen
pressure?
How do the microbes respond to changes from very high oxygen to almost
anoxic conditions at the first half of the downcomer tube?
Could this result in some sort of oxygen shock?
How does the pH change if carbon dioxide is not freely sparkling out but
dissolving completely?
Is the proton gradient of the cell membranes getting diminished by
conjugated acid anions which are then free to cross the cell membran?
What are the big constraints of such reactors or why are they not more
common?
Is there a webpage where I could find some information or links?
Please excuse this heap of questions; they are simply burning under my
nails. I found this type of reactors that stunning simple and convincing
that I can not see the drawbacks of them.
Thank you in advance,
Klaus Throm
