Dear Ashley,
There are a number of lectin probes that have been used to bind to
polysaccharides. Lectins, which are polysaccharide binding proteins,
characteristically will attach to particular sugar residues or groups of
sugar residues. A number of investigators have attached fluorescent probes
to lectins as well as other proteins. Concanavlin A and Wheat Germ
Agglutinin are two examples of lectins. One person whom you might contact
regarding this issue is Howard Ceri at the University of Calgary
(ceri at ucalgary.ca) He has extensive lectin and biofilm expertise.
