Does EMS go bad (and if so, on what time frame)? I have a student who has
done mutagenesis twice successfully and now, doing the same thing, is
killing all her worms. She has shown me that the last two (unsuccessful)
mutagenesis some oily stuff (presumably EMS) seems to come out of solution
during her 4 hr incubation (final amounts: 20 ul EMS in 4 ml M9 plus
worms), rocking the worms in a 15 ml centrifuge tube on a nutator. The EMS
is stored at room temp (as indicated on the bottle from Sigma) in the hood.
It was first opened in the fall.
