Laboratory Technician, Salt Lake City
An opening is available to work as a laboratory technician in beautiful
Salt Lake City. My laboratory uses molecular and electrophysiological
techniques to study neurobiology. My laboratory is located in the
Department of Biology, University of Utah. The academic environment is very
interactive and friendly. In addition, Salt Lake City is a great place to
live and work. The environs are beautiful and safe, and excellent skiing is
only minutes away.
The applicant should have a BS or MS degree in Molecular Biology or an
equivalent field, as well as 1-2 years academic laboratory experience.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work and
interact with other researchers, and basic training in molecular biology
are required.
The applicant will help conduct molecular and genetic studies of
glutamatergic neurotransmission and synaptic function in C. elegans.
Primary responsibilities will include ordering, making, and maintaining
general laboratory supplies and reagents, and maintaining a
transposon-insertion library.
The applicant should have experience in a variety of molecular biology
techniques such as screening of cDNA/genomic DNA libraries, molecular
cloning, DNA sequencing, PCR, antibody staining, and in situ hybridization.
The applicant should be aware that laboratory work will involve working
with radioactive materials and animal handling.
