Parasitic Helminths from Genomes to Vaccines
Edinburgh, 6-9 September 1997
This meeting is the first of what is hoped will be a new series of annual
or biannual research meetings in Edinburgh. "Parasitic Helminths from
Genomes to Vaccines" is intended to fill an important gap in the current
round of regular conferences.
There have been recent major advances in helminth research in the fields of
gene discovery, biochemistry and physiology (e.g. neurobiology and
receptors), and the immunology of host-parasite interactions. The value of
a helminth-specific meeting (rather than a general parasitology meeting
such as Woods Hole) has been demonstrated by recent Keystone symposia on
Molecular Helminthology. This meeting hopes to make such helminth-specific
gatherings more frequent and more accessible, especially at the student and
postdoc levels.
The programme will accomodate some 48 presentations, together with 4
invited keynote lectures, and two poster sessions. The presentations,
divided between genome research, biochemistry and immunology, will be
selected from submitted abstracts.
