lab/Rutgers
RESEARCH AREA: TGFbeta signal transduction, C. elegans, Drosophila
Applications are invited for two to three positions in my lab during this
year to study TGFbeta signaling in C. elegans and Drosophila. All positions
are grant funded (NIH GM47395, NIH HD34165, and an Army Breast Cancer
Grant), with competitive salaries based upon expertise and experience. We
are extending our studies of TGFbeta signaling in both organisms--e.g.,
identification of new signaling components, developmental studies of C.
elegans body size determination, TGFb connections to cell cycle control
using genetics and DNA microarrays.
We are looking for applicants interested in signal
transduction/developmental genetics with prior training in genetics and/or
molecular biology that can carry out research in an area related to TGFb
signaling. Individuals should be highly motivated and possess good
interpersonal skills. Applicants for the technician position should be able
to work semi-independently as well as help with lab management duties.
Further information about the lab can be found on our web page:
http://waksman.rutgers.edu/Waks/Padgett/padgett.html. Recent papers and
reviews include: Science 1998 281: 706-709; BioEssays (1998) 20:382-390;
Pharmacology and Therapeutics (1998) 78: 47-52; Development 1998 125:

Genes to Cells, 1999 in press.
We participate in a biweekly group meetings consisting of four C. elegans
labs and six Drosophila lab. Rutgers offers a very interactive scientific
environment and superb training. We are 45 minutes from NYC by train and
the Rutgers Campus is situated in pleasant surroundings. Applicants should
send a CV, brief letter describing research experience, and names and phone
numbers of three references to:
