POSTDOCTORAL POSITION at The University of Glasgow, Scotland.
Research field: Genetic control of morphogenesis and ectodermal
function in the free living
nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.
We have performed mutant screens and generated a variety of mutants that
are defective in
aspects of generation of body shape (morphogenesis) and subsequent
maintenaince of body shape
(exoskeleton formation). Several mutants have been genetically mapped
to facilitate cloning. The
project will involve cloning of genes identified by mutation (the
completion of the C.elegans
genome project greatly simplifies this process), and the subsequent
molecular
characterisation/investigation of the cloned genes. The project will
offer considerable training in
the use of this organisim as a developmental model.
