PhD Opportunity:
Morphogenesis of the dauer larva of Caenorhabditis elegans
The Sonderforschungsbereich Molecular Genetics of Morphoregulatory
Processes at the University of Goettingen, Germany, has an opening for a
PhD student to work on morphogenesis of the dauer larva of Caenorhabditis
elegans. Payment is DM 2060 per month and is available for three years.
The student is expected to develop new types of screenings in order to
identify genes of morphoregulatory importance. GFP-reporter strains have
already been produced for this.
PhD Opportunity:
High Mobility Group Proteins in Caenorhabditis elegans
The Graduiertenkolleg Molecular Genetics of Development at the University
of Goettingen, Germany, has an opening for a PhD student to work on the
function of chromosomal proteins (high mobility group proteins) in the
nervous system of Caenorhabditis elegans. The stipend (DM 2.000 per month)
is initially for two years and it can be elongated by one additional year.
The student will apply current techniques of reverse genetics like RNAi
inhibition, knockout and GFP-reporter genes. Specific antisera,
GFP-reporter transgenic animals and a knockout strain have already been
produced. The Graduiertenkolleg provides additional advanced training in
techniques covering most of the present model organisms in developmental
Biology and in human genetics. This teaching is done in english language.
