Research Specialist in Paradise
Rothman Laboratory, UC Santa Barbara
A research specialist position is available in the Rothman lab
(http://lifesci.ucsb.edu/MCDB/) at the University of California, Santa
Barbara to participate in our studies of development and programmed cell
death in C. elegans. The start date is flexible, though we would prefer a
start by June 1, 2000. We seek a self-motivated individual who will act as
a research technician and laboratory manager for an interactive research
group that includes 10 post-docs and graduate students. The position will
include supervising technical staff. Opportunities are available for
independent research projects and publication of research. An
undergraduate degree in a biological or chemical discipline and laboratory
experience are required. Experience with C. elegans is desirable.
Santa Barbara is a supremely beautiful and lively cultural city in a
setting that is often described as "paradise." UCSB (http://www.ucsb.edu/)
is located on a breathtaking coastal promontory with expansive views of the
Channel Islands and rugged Santa Ynez Mountains. The building that houses
the Rothman lab is located immediately adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. The
area and year-round mild climate provide almost unlimited opportunities for
outdoor activities.
