The identification and characterization of genes mediating female sexual
behaviour in Drosophila.
Drosophila has long been used as a model organism that allows us to
address how genes mediate aspects of behaviour. Although much progress
has been made in understanding how male sexual behaviour is determined,
female sexual behaviour is a largely neglected area of Drosophila
behaviour research. We propose to correct this by combining a classical
and molecular genetic approach with recent technological developments in
Drosophila functional genomics to identify genes that mediate female
sexual behaviour.
Candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology and
ideally would have some knowledge of neurobiology: experience in
Drosophila genetics is preferred, but not essential. Salary is £16,286
- £24,479 pa
