Technician position in the laboratory of David Hirsh,
Columbia University, New York, NY.

We seek a research technician to investigate receptor
mediated endocytosis using the molecular genetics of C.
elegans.
The technician will work with postdocs to identify the
functions of genes known to be involved in endocytosis. We
seek
someone with a degree in biology or chemistry and who has
formal knowledge of molecular biology and genetics. We
prefer
that the candidate have experience performing genetic
analysis, doing PCR and recombinant DNA methods, including
Southern
blots, Western blots, plasmid preparations, and cloning. We
seek individuals who are well organized and who have a
strong
intellectual curiosity and commitment to solving problems.
Experience with C. elegans would help but is not essential.
The
individual will help with day to day organization of the
laboratory, including basic supply ordering.

Bachelor's degree and at least 1 1/2 years of related
experience or equivalent in education, training and
experience. We seek
individuals who are well organized, have a strong
intellectual curiousity and commitment to solving problems,
and can work
independently.
