RNAi - effect on eggs

Hello!

Is the development of C. elegans eggs in general influenced by RNAi -
independent from the gene which is knocked out?

I am feeding C. elegans with bacteria producing different double stranded
RNA constructs. All adults stop laying eggs after three to four days after
starting the experiments. And before they reach this point the eggs look
like undifferentiated cell clumbs. I have seen this phenomenon in all RNAi
experiments except of the controls (HT115 bacteria + vector only), which
shows that the method in general is working.

If somebody has seen something similar or knows an answer to this
phenomenon: please write back to me.

Bye. Britta
