The purpose of this announcement is to solicit your contributions to the
first issue of Volume 17 of the Worm Breeder's Gazette--WBG. (The final
issue of Volume 16, the Genetic Map, is being being photocopied and will be
distributed shortly; and we will be soliciting subscriptions to Volume 17
and updates to a Directory of C. elegans Researchers in a separate
message.) The deadline for WBG submissions will be October 10, for a
November 1 issue date. We've received some helpful comments about the
Gazette, most of which were given in the spirit of keeping it alive. One
suggestion was to be more forceful in our solications. We hereby encourage
you to submit abstracts on any topic of C. elegans research. Abstracts on
technical advances--or even things that didn't work as well as hoped--seem
particularly relevant. Following an excellent suggestion received at the
recent international worm meeting
at UCLA, we encourage chairs of Workshops held at the meeting to send in
(or perhaps ask other participants to send in) summaries of what went on
during their workshops--obviously nobody could attend all, or even a
majority, of the Workshops. We also solicit announcements of meetings, job
