A Research Assistant position is currently available in the
laboratory of Eric Lambie, Department of Biological Sciences,
Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH. Research in this laboratory employs
a combination of genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology to
investigate the regulation of cell division, using the nematode C.
elegans as an experimental organism. Specific procedures utilized
include PCR amplification, DNA sequencing, preparation of plasmid and
cosmid DNA, plasmid subcloning, genetic analysis, generation of
transgenic nematode strains, western analysis and immunostaining.
The particular research emphasis will depend on the skills and
experience of the candidate hired. Duties also include media
preparation and general laboratory organization.
Experience in either molecular biology or C. elegans genetics
preferred; microscopy experience a plus. Excellent organizational
and record-keeping skills, high motivation level and ability to work
independently are important. Commensurate with the successful
candidate's qualifications this position may be filled at a variety
of levels including: Research Assistant B, Research Technician, and
Laboratory Technician A. Candidates are expected to have a Bachelor's
degree with a major in one of the biological sciences or relevant
experience.
