RNAi C. elegans and a mutation preventing egg laying

Dear friends!

A question:

On has identified a set of 100 mutations that abolish RNAi in C.
elegans. These mutations were identified by growing mutagenized worms
on E. coli that express a dsRNA targeting an essential maternally
expressed C. elegans gene.
Q. How the use of a mutation that prevents egg laying in a otherwise
WT strain facilitates the initial screen for mutants?

How many generations one has to wait after mutagenesis before looking
for RNAi resistance and why?

How to identify genes required for RNAi in all tissues?
how to distiguish weak mutants from strong? How to identify those
mutants that are not defective in RNAi per se?

Thank you,

C
