Post-doctoral Fellowship in=A0 C.elegans Ageing
Applications are invited for a Post Doctoral Fellow to carry out a=20
functional analysis of genes which we have identified in microarray=20
experiments as being differentially expressed in long lived mutants of=20=
the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.=A0 The project is being carried out=20=
in collaboration with Dr. David Gems, University College London.=A0 The=20=
research project will involve gene knockout studies using RNAi, gene=20
expression studies using quantitative PCR, genetic transformation=20
experiments and comparative genomics.
The Post Doctoral Fellow should have a strong background in molecular=20
biology and genetics.=A0 Candidates with prior experience of working =
with=20
C. elegans or other species of nematodes; or with molecular genetics of=20=
other eukaryotic model organisms; or in the areas of cell biology,=20
genomics or bioinformatics are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will conduct research in nematode functional=20
genomics.=A0 In addition to laboratory skills, excellent written and =
oral=20
communication skills, teamwork ability, commitment and high levels of=20
organizational skills will be highly valued.
This post is funded by Enterprise Ireland for 2-3=A0 years.
Starting Salary: =A432,000 - =A435,000=A0 p.a. (based on experience)
