Thanks to all who replied to my post of 8/10/05 requesting info on where to
buy platinum wire for worm picks. Most people said they use 32 ga, 99.95%.
I checked back and my memory was wrong-- I have been using 32 ga all along,
not 28 ga like I said in my previous post. Here is the pertinent info:

Fisher was the supplier mentioned most often. 99.95%, 32 ga platinum wire
from Fisher, # 13-766-10B. It may be on backorder at present. Fisher also
has platinum wire from 20 to 36 ga.

Other suppliers mentioned were:

http://umetals.com/proddetail.php?prod=14142&PHPSESSID=04409384a521eb86e0dd3b

G

Finally, a responder mentions using 20% iridium, 80% platinum wire.
Responder says this stuff is less brittle and lasts longer than pure platinum
and it cools in less than two seconds to ambient temperature from a flame.
Available from SPI Supplies, Division of STRUCTURE PROBE, Inc. P.O. Box 656,
West Chester, PA 19381-0656 USA1-610-436-5400 / 1-800-2424-SPI (USA Only) /
Fax 1-610-436-5755 Product #1707 - 10 feet long.
It is probably worth checking several sources of Pt wire for price comparison
since the Fisher price is much higher than I remember it being when I ordered
from VWR
Thanks again for all your help. Cheers and happy worm picking!

Sam Politz
