For a book I am doing on deepsea creatures (to be published as "Deep
Atlantic" by Knopf), I am researching the oar- or ribbon-fish, Regalecus
glesne. I have been unable to find many distribution records (only
occasional strandings), but I did come across a most unusual record of a
SCHOOL of oarfishes in the volcanic caldera of Santorini in the Aegean. (It
was in the Cousteau and Piccalet book, "The Search for Atlantis.") Does
anyone know of any other legitiamte records?
