Hello and welcome to the new home of the DEEPSEA mailing list and
newsgroup. DEEPSEA's purpose is to serve the scientific community
studying the biology, oceanography, and geology of the deep-sea. DEEPSEA
has been existance at the University of Victoria for the last three years
and has just moved to its new home at BIOSCI, giving DEEPSEA additional
USENET access.
This newsgroup is moderated and content will be restricted to
professional, technical, and scientific aspects of deep-sea exploration
and research. Traditional topics include marine biogeography, the nature
of hydrothermal vent communities, symposium annoucements, searches for
specialist literature, technical commentaries, and position
annoucements. Any topic related to professional, technical, and
scientific aspects of deep-sea exploration and research is welcome but
amateur commentary, internet SPAM, or generally uninformative discussion
will be eliminated without notice. General questions and commentary from
the public will be welcomed if they are of significant content - all
others will be screened by the moderator.
I wish you all a Happy New Year and it is my hope that DEEPSEA will
continue to be a useful resource for the scientific community.
