BACKGROUND OF THE CONFERENCE
The ICIRD-conferences are held under the auspices of the International
Society for Invertebrate Reproduction. Invertebrates are immensely
important as a source of food as well as pests. Moreover, they serve as
convenient model systems for research in many disciplines e.g. reproductive
biology, developmental biology, genetics, physiology etc.
The ISIRD-conferences focus on reproduction and on development.=20
They provide the opportunity to exchange information on the
current status, and to learn about future directions of research in a
number of different fields.=20

All activities will be hosted by the Vrije Universiteit at Amsterdam, The
Netherlands, conveniently located in the southern part of Amsterdam near
Schiphol Airport. This location is easily reached by car or public
transportation. About 70 low-cost rooms are available, especially for
students.
