Colleagues,
The time has come for me to resign as moderator/manager of the DEEPSEA
newsgroup. I have successfully progressed from the graduate student who
spends too much time on email to the post-doc who cannot find time to read
it. My thanks to all those who helped develop the newsgroup (first as a
listserv) over the last six years. I will of course still be an active
subscriber to the newsgroup and will act as interim moderator when needed.
Magnus Johnson (mlj2 at leicester.ac.uk) will be acting as interim moderator
until the end of January. At that time a new moderator will be needed. If
anyone is interested, please contact me (mcarthur at onyx.si.edu). If no
moderator is found we will be forced to remove moderation from the
newsgroup, thus allowing extensive Internet spam-mail to be posted. This
would drastically reduce the appeal of the newsgroup.
