I have a question about methane hydrates and deep sea vents. I know very little about this topic but I was hoping someone could direct me to somewhere where I can find answers to some questions (or answer them yourselves). I want to know about the relationship between methane hydrate deposits in the ocean and deep sea vents. I have read about vents in the ocean are surrounded with an incredible amount of species. I have read about how deep sea mining could be harmful to the species around this area. Is the specific to thermal vents or colder vents ( I don't know the proper name). And how would drilling for methane hydrates effect species around vents. Are methane hydrates located near thermal vents or cooler vents? Are there species located near both, or just thermal vents. My major concern is the impact drilling for methane hydrates would have on these different species.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
