[Diagnostics] Epidemiology course, Nov 16-18, Barcelona,Spain.

   Dear Colleagues,
   
   Registration is open for= the course "An Introduction to Statistical
   Methods in Epidemiology U= sing R", November 16-18, 2015.
   
   Instructor: Dr. Klaus Langohr (U= niversitat Politècnica de Catalunya,
   Spain).
   
   The cour= se aims to give an introduction to basic statistical methods
   for epidemiolo= gy. The topics treated in the course will be the
   following:
    1. Desi= gn of epidemiological studies: cohort studies, case-control
       studies, and cr= oss-sectional studies.
    2. Epidemiological measures of disease frequenc= y and
       exposure-disease association.
    3. Sources of bias in epidemiologi= cal studies: information,
       selection, and confounding bias.
    4. Bias con= trol: stratification and matching.
    5. Logistic regression.
       
   After the completion of the course, the participants should have
   acquired = basic knowledge on these topics and should be able to apply
   the correspondi= ng methods to real data. For this purpose, theory
   sessions will be accompan= ied by practical exercises with the
   statistical software R.
   
   This cour= se will be held in the Sabadell facilities of the Institut
   Català de P= aleontologia (Barcelona, Spain) and is co-organized by
   Transmitting Science= and the Institut Catalá de Paleontologia M.
