POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
PLANT PHYSIOLOGICAL ECOLOGY / ECOSYSTEM ECOLOGY
The successful candidate will contribute to a NSF-funded
study examining the effects of large herbivores on plant
production and N cycling in Yellowstone National Park. The work
will include, but not be limited to, determining the influence of
defoliation on plant allocation and production using 13C
labelling techniques in the laboratory and field. The job will
require spending a month or more of at least one field season in
Yellowstone Park. This project is a collaborative effort, and
field studies on plant carbon allocation will be coordinated with
minirhizotron measurements and 15N dilution experiments.
The position will be available January, 1999, and the
successful candidate will be required to have completed a Ph.D.
in ecology or a related field by the starting date. Experience
with plant gas exchange, and soil C and N processes is desirable.
