Within the project group Ecophysiology of Plants of the faculty of Biology
of Utrecht University (The Netherlands) there is a vacancy for a

Post-doc (Ecophysiologist or Plant Physiologist)

The main research theme of the project group Ecophysiology of Plants is
concentrated on the impact of environmental changes on growth and
allocation patterns and the consequences that these changes have for
the fitness of the whole plant. More particular we are interested in the
perception and transduction of signals that drive modifications in growth
and allocation. Recently the Dutch grant organisation NWO awarded a
so-called "PIONEER" project entitled: "The mechanism of flooding-induced
shoot elongation: an eco-molecular approach". This project aims to
increase our kowledge on the physiological and molecular regulation
of flooding-induced petiole elongation in semi-aquatic plants. Within
this PIONEER project 3 post-docs, 3 PhD students and 2 technicians
will participate.

It will be your task to conduct ecophysiological research into the
flooding-induced mechanisms that are essential in the petiole elongation
response of our model species Rumex palustris. This research question
requires a multidisciplinary approach in which physiological, biochemical
and molecular biological techniques are applied. It will also be your task
to advice and supervise undergraduates and PhD students that
participate in the PIONEER project. Furthermore, your talents will
be used in the teaching tasks of the project group Ecophysiology of Plants.

We are looking for a scientifically creative person who is qualified as
Ecophysiologist or Plant Physiologist on a PhD level. It is important that
the candidate
1. has publication experience in highly ranked international journals.
2. has experience or affinity with molecular and cell biological techniques.
3. has experience or affinity with the research area that is focussed on physiological adaptations to flooding.
4. has good didactical skills.
5. has research experience in a foreign country

We offer a temporary contract as a post-doc for three years with the
possibility of prolongation into a permanent contract as an assistant professor.
Your minimum and maximum monthly gross salary in Dutch guilders will be
f 3990,- and f 8425,-, respectively.

If you are interested you can respond within three weeks to this vacancy
and include a curriculum vitae and a list of publications. Send it to the
Department Personeel & Organisatie , Mr. L.B. Loohuizen, Sorbonnelaan 16,
3584 CA Utrecht, The Netherlands (Vacancy number 66911).
For further information you can phone prof.dr.L.A.C.J. Voesenek
