The Physiological Ecology Section of the Ecological Society of America
is pleased to announced its best paper and poster winners from this
summer's meeting at Snowbird. The winner of the Billings Award for best
paper is Brent Helliker of the University of Utah for his oral
presentation: Why is a grass blade like a tree ring? - an isotopic model
for recording environmental data in grass blades. His coauthor was Jim
Ehleringer. The Best Poster Winner is Andrew McElrone of the University
of Maryland for his poster presentation: Interactive
effects of drought stress and infection by Xylella fastidiosa on the
ecophysiology of a common liana (with Ian Forseth). Congratulations
to both Brett and Andrew.
