air humidity and nutrient uptake

Dear colleagues,
I would like to change uptake rates of plants growing in a nutrient
solution. I thought about changing the air humidity and thereby changing
the transpiration. Does anyone know references concerning air humidity
and the impact on uptake rates or other mechanisms?
