The Department of Biology at Duke University is seeking a technical
director to oversee and run the daily operations of a newly established
Laboratory for Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (LIRMS). The Technical
Director will interact with faculty, staff, and students across campus,
especially those in the School of Arts and Sciences and the Nicholas
School of the Environment. The Biology facility is one component of a
planned campus-wide Center for Mass Spectrometry, including additional
facilities in the Chemistry Department and in the Duke University
Medical Center.
The successful candidate should have experience using stable isotope
mass spectrometers and a M.S. or Ph.D. in a suitable discipline such as
analytical chemistry, biogeochemistry, or environmental sciences. He or
she will be hired as a Research Scientist at a salary commensurate with
