myristoylation

Hi Everyone:

I am characterizing a clone from my protein of interest, and search motif 
program gave a result of multiple myristoylation sites. The protein is 
multimeric, secreted and heavily glycosilated  (but membrane binding species 
are found as well). It has been found for this protein to participate in 
interactions with other proteins and to bind certain bacteria.
Does everybody think that if myristoylation sites are within the protein 
sequence they don't have any relevance and are not real?
