Today we got the news that the maniac in Atlanta killed his ex wife and two
small children using a hammer. Another sensless death "caused" by hammers!
How many people must die and be injured because of hammers?
I'm calling for new federal legislation on hammer control.
We can reduce the number of murders commited every year "by" hammers if we
will require national registration of all hammers.
Anyone who carries a hammer in their tool box should be required, by law, to
obtain a concealed hammer permit. The government should force them to take a
safety class and all hammers should be sold with some type of locking device.
We need to start out by outlawing the manufacture or possession of those
cheap hammers any kid can pick up in the tool bin at the convenience store.
Most hammer murders are "caused" by these cheap "every night specials".
We can also start with a mandatory background check and a waiting period for
anyone wishing to purchase a hammer. Who would object to that?
I'm asking you all to call your Congressman today and DEMAND new hammer laws.
This will not be an easy fight since we will be facing strong opposition from
the powerful, right wing, national carpenter's union. Together we can make a
difference and stop hammer violence. Regulating these objects that cause crime
will reduce crime and save lives, right?
