postdoctoral position available

Vogel, Julie M. Julie.M.Vogel at usa.dupont.com
Tue Mar 31 17:52:30 EST 1998

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in
the Plant Genomics group, within the Agricultural Biotechnology
department at Dupont, located in Wilmington, DE. This position is
available immediately.

The successful applicant should have earned a Ph.D in Genetics,
Plant Biology or an equivalent field, and will have an interest in
applying genetic and genomic approaches to solving problems of
agricultural importance. Specifically, this position will be within the
'Reverse Genetics' group, which is part of a multidisciplinary and
highly interactive program in Plant Genomics at Dupont. In the context
of reverse genetics, the successful candidate will perform
investigations into the identification and isolation of maize and
Arabidopsis mutants for genes contributing to traits of interest to
Dupont's crop biotechnology business. The position provides the
successful candidate with an opportunity to interact with a large number
of plant scientists at both Dupont and the University of Delaware,
located nearby. A strong background in the use of transposable
elements, T-DNA, and/or molecular genetic approaches to plant biology is
necessary, and some experience with new technology development is
desirable. Familiarity with robotics or automation, or with genomic
approaches in general, is a plus.

The appointment is for a minimum of two years. Applicants should
send a CV, statement of research accomplishments and interests, and
names of three references by 15 April 1998 to Dr. Julie Vogel, DuPont
Agricultural Biotechnology, PO Box 6104, Newark, DE 19714. Email
inquiries can be sent to julie.m.vogel at usa.dupont.com.
