I would like to draw your attention to the following faculty position in
the Botany Department at Iowa State University. This advertisement will
appear this week in Science. There are a number of maize labs doing
research that fits the job description very well and ISU is an excellent
place to work on maize. Hope to see your application.
Plant Development and Evolution
We invite applications for a faculty position in plant developmental
biology. Applications are particularly encouraged from individuals with
research interests that integrate developmental with evolutionary aspects
of plant form and function. The Botany Department is an integrative plant
biology group with active, collaborative research in
physiology/genetics/molecular biology, systematics/evolution, and ecology
(http://www.public.iastate.edu/~botany.homepage.html), within an
interactive network involving 200+ plant biologists in other departments
and interdepartmental programs. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to develop a competitive research program in an environment
committed to plant biology research and will be expected to contribute to
undergraduate and graduate teaching. Applicants should submit a curriculum
vitae, statements of research/teaching interests and selected reprints, and
arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to: Dr. Jonathan F.
Wendel, Search Committee Chair, Department of Botany, Iowa State
University, Ames, IA 50011-1020 by December 15, 1998. Iowa State
University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women and
members of minority groups are encouraged to apply.
