1999 PLANT GENOME PROGRAM
The 1999 Program Description for the Plant Genome Program of USDA's
National

The deadline date for submission of proposals is December 15, 1998.
Emphasis areas for support include:
(1) Development of new technologies for genome mapping genome
manipulation, gene isolation or gene transfer in plants.
(2) Use of genome technologies to create new gemplasm/varieties that
solve problems important to US agriculture or that will create new
products for the US agricultural industry.
(3) Generation of molecular markers and mapping data, (e.g. EST
projects) and map-based cloning of agriculturally important plant genes.
(4) Development of plant genome software to support comparative mapping,
QTL analysis and pedigree analysis.
